Sherzod’s story
Sherzod Omonov
Not a straight-line story
- LL.M., Harvard Law School, Class of 2026
- Global UGRAD, West Virginia University
- Tashkent State University of Law
At fifteen, Sherzod did not speak a word of English. He taught himself from YouTube during the pandemic, won a place on the Global UGRAD exchange program and spent a fully funded semester at West Virginia University.
He went on to Harvard Law School on financial aid, graduating in 2026. Along the way he won five separate grants that took him across Europe and the United States.
He now lives and works in New York. Since 2022 he has been helping students from Uzbekistan get into top American universities.
At 15, Sherzod didn’t speak English. The U.S. wasn’t the plan.
